“For almost eight decades, Total has maintained a deep-rooted and significant relationship with Qatar. As Vice President of the Al Khalij Asset Division operating the Al Khalij field off the shore of Halul Island, I know that longstanding relationships such as this are built on a solid foundation of trust and shaped by the tireless evolution of technology.”

A Longstanding Legacy

In all my years at Total, I’ve been privileged to be part of several milestone projects that have shaped the energy landscape in many regions. One such recent milestone was the creation of a new joint venture with Qatar Petroleum to further develop the Al Khalij field over the next 25 years. Created in February 2014, the new venture is of special significance to us since it reflects our partner's trust in our technological and operational expertise. ”

Focused on Enhancing Recovery

I’m proud to say that Total’s ambitious plan for enhancing recovery from the Al Khalij field has been bolstered by this new agreement. I think that this is a great opportunity for Total to showcase and demonstrate to Qatar Petroleum and all our stakeholders that we have the expertise, know-how, technology and framework of trust that will enable us to optimize oil recovery from this mature field.

Tackling the Challenge Head-On

Total's constant technological development is driving us forward. But, as you would expect, there will be challenges along the way. And we face a unique one at Al Khalij, as we try to make the most of this mature field. To overcome this, we’re testing breakthrough ideas such as fishbone wells and dual submersible pump technology. These are exciting times and I’m glad to be part of this success story in the making.
